Mustard Seed of Faith

Faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains! Let’s talk about what that looks like in our monthly Encounter Classes!

Charismata Marie Weaver smiling, with colorful artwork behind her

For August, our normal, monthly classes run on the first Sat. at 9:00 am et set, and the third Sunday, at 7:00 pm et..

This month we will be taking a look at what faith is, and how to walk in it.  I’ll be sharing about a mustard seed faith time in my life.  Our time with God will be focused on encountering Him with our faith, and our creative art time will depict what that looks like.  I hope you will join in this special time together.

If you have not signed up yet for the monthly encounter classes, you can go to the Encounter Class page of our website for more information or to the sign up.

It is a monthly subscription where you can either sign up for once a month, or twice a month, and can be paused or stopped at any time.  The classes are also recorded for your convenience.

Hope to see you soon!

Much Love,

Carolyn

When the Pieces Begin to Come Together

One step leads to the next.  Just take the next step…
About ten minutes into a recent conversation with Wendy Manzo, prophetic artist, and author, my eyes welled up with good tears. (www.WendyManzo.com)

I realized in that moment the reason why God started me on this healing journey with art, probably 14 years ago…

Lying on my side in my bed, I was so tired of living that every breath became more shallow as it took everything in me to fill my lungs again.  As a sweet peace descended over me, I honestly thought I’d wake up in heaven in Jesus’s arms.  I had no energy left to fight the raging battles within my own mind, nor to raise the three precious babies peering at me over the side of the bed.

Yet, God had other plans.  Within a week, a friend’s words prophesied over me that I was sinking in quick sand, and the more I fought to get out the deeper I sank, but Jesus would throw me a life line and pull me out.A few days later, I heard the words of my Savior say, “Pick up your paint brush and start painting your freedom.”

What I didn’t realize then was that when we partner with God in the creative process, it is spiritual warfare that breaks bondages off of us. It’s more than just a healthy way to process your emotions.  Creating is who God is.  Creator.  Abusers intentionally shut down the creative process for a reason.

I’ve lost count of how many people have told me that their abusers threw away their art supplies as a child and forbade them to create.  Yet, when engaging with God in the creative artistic process they come back to life.  Why?  Because creativity is a powerful, God-given force to bring life and to set people free.

I further believe out of my own experiences and out of others that the creative process in using our God-given imagination is a connection point between earth and heaven.  The part of the Lord’s Prayer where Jesus talks about “your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, is talking about manifesting the kingdom of heaven here on earth, and one way to do that is through the creative process, as we sense things of heaven and manifest an expression of that on earth.  As we do, we are yielding to the Holy Spirit in us, and allow Holy Spirit to work through us to release heaven here.

Flash forward from the almost taking my last breath moment to about four years ago… I wake up from a dream about saving a woman and her child out of sex trafficking, to seeing a vision in my mind’s eye of me teaching art classes to survivors.  As I focused in on that vision, I heard a booming voice inside, “Teach others what I’ve taught you.”I had no idea of how to do this.  I had no examples to follow.  But I’ve just taken a baby step forward, then God says step here, and then step there, and then step over here, I’ve started to see the puzzle piece begin to fall into place.

Somewhere along this journey, I’m finally coming to understand that one significant piece in my healing journey was the rope of the creative process in painting my freedom that helped pull me out of a pit of quicksand, and give me new hope for the future.  I began to heal.  And now so, I throw the rope out to others through classes, through the books, through the one on one talks.  And Jesus slips one more piece into the puzzle to wholeness.  Isn’t that wonderful!

This is what my story, my business is all about.  It’s way more than just learning to paint a picture.  It truly is healing hearts through arts.

Won’t you join me on this journey?   Check out our sample class on the Encounter Class page on our website. I’d love to have you join us on this healing journey together.

Much Love,

Charismata

Thankful for 2021

Thanking the Lord for all the new and wonderful things He did through our business in 2021.
Thank you so much for your support and being apart of the journey!

This is a quick run down of what we did in 2021. It was a year of growth and stepping into new things. Here you go!

This past year we have been able to continue art classes at Switch (local ministry that helps end sex trafficking), also had classes with Celebrate Recovery and Grace Church Recovery.

We have published two books, “The Invitation” (a devotional encounter) and “A Sheep’s Tale” (a children’s Kindle book). We also have published quotes and written works in two other books. (“You’ve Got the Wrong Guy” by Lisa Meister and “Untwisting Scriptures: Book 3” by Rebecca Davis.) Blogging also has remained an important way to reach out.I

I painted several prophetic art pieces and had a few commissioned pieces as well. So fun!!

The doors opened to speak several times on sharing my story on heart healing and encountering Jesus.

I developed and taught the first Encounter Class resulting in some choosing into a more in depth heart healing journey.

My daughter taught children’s art classes over the summer.

So grateful for all the opportunities for new growth!

Looking forward to the new in 2022!

And don’t forget sign ups for the new Encounter Class will end soon. We have a few more spots available and the sale for $100 is on through Jan. 2nd, and if you bring a friend with you, take an extra $25 off of the class for you and your friend. Hope you can join us.

Burial Plots to Rose Beds

This post gently touches on themes of trauma and broken relationships. Take your time, and be kind to yourself as you read.

Many years ago, I sat across from my pastor as he pulled out a sheet of paper.  “What is your goal in life, Carolyn?  What do you dream of becoming one day?”  As a young married woman with little clue, I stammered.

“We want to help families be healthy,” I paused.  “I always dreamed of having a healthy family, but also to help others.  We want to have a place where families have resources to help them.”

Sincerely, he looked at me with tenderness as he picked a pen. He drew one dot.  “This is where you are.”  Across the page, he placed another dot.  “This is where you want to be.”

Then, he did the unexpected.

He drew a crazy, curving line all over the page, until one dot finally connected to the other.

“You expect point A to be a straight line to point B.”  He raised his eyes to meet mine, smiling mischievously.  “Carolyn, God always has different plans.  He has to take you on a journey with him to reach point B, and it will curve, twisting and turning, doing loop de loops sometimes.  Yet, it is always His kindness in leading the way He does, because it’s what we learn on the journey from point A to point B that prepares you to walk in that new place.”

This has played out in my life so many times that I could never have imagined then all the many twists and turns there would be.

This blog is about one of those journeys – a new bed of roses from a burial plot.

Last summer, I published my new book, “The Invitation”.  It’s a compilation of some very hard twists and turns – life lessons learned from my healing journey – in a story form, with artwork that goes along with the stories, along with letters from the Lord.  It’s personal.  It’s vulnerable glimpses into my heart from various encounters with the Lord on my healing journey.

The letters from the Lord included are very precious to me, because He gave them to me at an extremely tender turning point in my journey, a point when I was finally beginning to trust Him, finally able to begin to feel His love and experience His joy.

At that time, several beautiful friends came along side me, and were Jesus to me.  Some of them held me, cried with me, were true sisters to me as I processed out the pain of broken family relationships, extreme trauma, and pain.

Previous friends promised they’d be family, and never leave, but when the path had gotten rough, they left me and my husband to walk it alone.  Yet, this time… this time it felt different. For the first time, I had a family of sisters, of friends who would stay by my side.  They wouldn’t bolt.  They had shared my pain.  They knew my story.

Shortly after the writing of those letters out – after finally reaching a place of trust again, things changed.  Leadership became abusive.  Out of obedience to the Lord, I spoke out to the leadership about the things that were careening out of control.  Instead of being received, I and my family were ostracized from our “Christian family”.

The very ones who I had trusted, now would not speak to me.  My phone number was blocked, and I was unfriended on social media. My family and I were “blessed” to leave.  Other close friends were hurting as well from the fall out, so they chose to run.  Only two friends stayed along side me.  (I’m not saying this to gossip.  You can check out my friend, Rebecca Davis’s new book for help with.  “Untwisting Scriptures: Book 3 – Your Words, Your Emotions”.)  Those are just facts of what happened.  It hurt deeply, like a knife digging at my heart.

Shortly after God had given the letters to me, the Lord instructed me to publish them and the stories.  Though it was painful, and I didn’t understand why, I choose to trust that God knew what was best and obey despite how I felt.  Truly, all I saw was a freshly dug pile of dirt and a tombstone.

The day came for the proof copy to arrive on my door step.  As I anxiously ripped open the yellow envelope and held the book in my hand, I felt the pang of gut wrenching grief again.  Hot tears welled up in my eyes.  “This isn’t the way this was supposed to be,” I lamented.

“I’m proud of you for obeying me,” I heard the still small voice.  “Place it in my hands, child.  You’ll see why I asked this of you.”

A few weeks later, I found myself chatting with a friend who had just read the book.  “Carolyn,” she said.  “I loved your book and the encounters you had with the Lord.  I really feel you should make this into a class.  Do a class combining art with the concepts in your book.”

My mind raced back to the beginning of this year when the Lord told me that I was transitioning out of what I had been doing with my painting classes into something new.

My whole business is based on a dream and vision He gave me on combining the things I’ve learned on my own healing journey, encounters with Him, and art.  Yet, the classes I had done before fell short of what burned in me to do.

All of a sudden everything became crystal clear.  “Lord, is this what you’ve been trying to tell me?  Is this the new direction?”

I decided to reread my own book, pouring through the pages with a new lens.  Sure enough, it made perfect sense.  Each chapter was a different heart healing principle that I had learned, and the length of the book was perfect for the length of the class.  I could even see each art project in conjunction with the healing encounter the Lord desired to do.

He inspired me with a new logo, tag line, and brought together wonderful participants for a beta class to help me work out the details.  He even met each of them in our times together with significant, life changing encounters of His love and identity in Him.

Now, where there was once intense pain, there is a dawn of hope. Excitement is beginning to grow over what is to come as I step out into this new direction.

The path has held twists, turns, some loop de loops, deep grief, tears, forgiveness, encounters of love, and moments of joy.  At each turn, I’ve learned to release the process into the hands of my loving Heavenly Father trusting Him to help to learn and growing through the journey.

I don’t even think I care much about where point B is anymore.  I just want to learn to love well, and receive love daily.  Cheek to cheek.  Face to face.  Heart to heart.

Where just a few months ago all I saw was a burial plot, now I see the first signs of verdant, strong stems popping up from the fertile ground and tender, little rose buds forming on the tips.

Jesus transforms burial plots into rose beds.  I’ve seen Him do it again and again.  He loves creating beautiful masterpieces out of broken pieces of our of lives, breathing resurrection life into dead bones.  Trust Him.

Summer is here

Happy Summer!

I don’t know about you, but I’m so grateful summer is here…

So, what are we up to this summer?

Well, the end of our school year has been a frenzy of graduations, celebrations, and more.  Letting those you Love enter new seasons is exciting and overwhelming at times.

As we have looked towards summer, the Lord has directed me focus on investing in my kids as one prepares to leave for college, another will be teaching her first art classes for kids, and my last volunteering in instructing dance classes at our fellowship.

So, for the summer months, I won’t be scheduling any group classes for the summer for the adults.  I still am taking special request for classes for private events, but nothing public til the fall.

What you can look forward to this summer though is the release of “The Invitation”!   This release has been a long time coming, but we are so excited that it is almost here!

We are also looking to revamp our website in the fall, so please be praying for the Lord’s timing on that.

And wait, there’s more!  I feel that I may be able to release in the fall to begin our monthly subscription Art classes, where we will really be focusing on the ministry to our hearts through the arts.  These will be called the “Blossoming” classes and all online.  The reason I’ve held back in these is the Lord slowed me down in the spring and has refocused me in my own heart healing.  Please be praying with me for the right timing of these classes, because I really feel these are going to be amazing times of encounter with the Lord and each other.

Our monthly classes to minister to sex trafficking survivors are on going and continue to be such a blessing to us.  I look forward to sharing a short video soon highlighting our involvement.

Well, that’s a lot I know.  Please check out website for blog posts, new artwork for sale, online classes, and more!  Have an awesome summer!

Much Love,

Love Bootcamp

This post gently touches on themes of abuse. Take your time, and be kind to yourself as you read.

Have you ever felt like you’ve been in a holy kind of boot camp, where the Holy Spirt is trying to train you in something, teaching you a very important life lesson, (actually the most important) and you keep losing your grip on the next level of the climbing wall and slipping back down?

Well, honestly, I’ve never even attempted to climb a wall.  They’ve always looked insurmountable to me.  With this wall though, the Lord has been so gentle with teaching and training me.  He certainly has not been a drill sergeant with me, but more like a caring, encouraging coach.

Yet, sometimes when His words hit your heart, you are like “Ugh.  Lord, I’m still missing the mark?”  Please, don’t hear me saying anything about performance based love here.

The wall for me, the lesson the Lord has so gently, but relentlessly trying to teach me, has been understanding what real love looks like.

Even a little has been difficult for me to understand, partly because I didn’t have much examples of love growing up.  At best, it was mostly a twisted, selfish, human love I knew.  Also, God’s love is simply so incredibly different than what most of us experience in life in general.

I’ve had several, difficult life situations I’m attempting to walk out right now.  Repeatedly, when I’ve asked the why questions, like “Why can’t this end now, Lord?”,  “Or why am I still being treated this way, Lord?” or “Why is this happening all at the same time, Lord?” (You know, the questions you aren’t supposed to ask God, almighty.), I’ve gotten the same consistent answer.

“I’m teaching you how to love with My love.”  Sometimes, that has been a daily reply.  Yet, I struggle and fight it, so many times, instead of just leaning back into it.

It’s hard to love people who don’t like you, especially “Christians” who you were once close to.  It’s hard to love family members when they are difficult to deal with, maybe facing mental or health issues that require you to put your needs aside.  It’s hard to love teens that just want you to leave them alone (at least, they say they do).  It’s hard to love people who you feel consistently reject you, and yet God says “Reach out again.  Keep loving.  Don’t give up.”  It’s hard to love people who come to you broken, hurting, when you still feel the same way a lot of the time. It’s hard to love the prodigal.

It’s really hard to love the one who abused you or even harder who abused someone love, like a child.   It’s hard to love the way God does.

Heidi Baker recently relayed a story about how God challenged her on love.  She had just experienced the murder of many of their pastors in Africa where she is a missionary.  She struggled with her emotions over the horrible losses of those she loved.  She questioned.  She grieved.

Finally, the Lord spoke to her heart. “You have authority over those you love.”  She knew what He meant.  “Do you really love your enemies?  Those who just murdered those you care most for?  Do you true love them?” It was then, she knew what she had to do. Put action to her words of love. That’s His kind of love.

Prophet Bob Jones once said after he had a heavenly visitation that the only question he was asked was by God was “Did you learn to love?”

Do you get that?  That’s our one and only pursuit on this big ball of dirt, to learn to love like God does.  As Paul said, “To know how wide, deep, long, high is the love of God.”  That’s it.  Our one calling.  Our one goal in this life.

Jesus said it this way when asked what was the greatest commandment.  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.”

We have put a way longer list of expectations on ourselves through religion and culture haven’t we?  Yet, the one lesson to learn is not exactly easy.

I was spending time with the Lord a few days ago, and He zinged my heart with these words.

“Daughter, the love you have had still has selfish aspects to it.  I’m teaching you what pure love really is, without the dross.  I’m using this time to perfect that in you.  I love your honesty.  I love your willingness to love, to give even when it hurts.  Love is not afraid of being hurt.  Love is not afraid of suffering.  Love is not afraid of rejection.  Love freely gives with no expectation of anything in return.  Your love has needed a return. (Ouch.)  Mine doesn’t.  My love is not needy.  It always gives.  It always believes the best.  It never gives up…  True love is not afraid of anything.  Just keep loving.  Keep your heart open to my love.  Love never fails.”

One of my favorite and least favorite things about 1 Cor. 13, the love chapter, is that it begins with “Love is patient.”  I’m so grateful for it when receiving it, but oh, it can be so hard to walk out.  Love is patient.  It’s patient with me, and all my mess ups, brokenness, and heartache.  But it also asks me to be love others patiently.

The one thing that will never fail is LOVE.  The one thing that will always win is LOVE – God’s kind of lay down my life for another, suffering, beautiful love.  The kind of love that hung on a cross for me.

I’ve only begun to taste it, to experience dribbles of it, but it is the most wonderful, amazing, and terrifying (In the sense of when I experience it, I am completely undone.) thing I’ve ever known – the true love of God.

If you want to know what God is made of, He says in 1 John 4 that He is LOVE.

I’ll leave you with this, because I feel it is such a beautiful picture of the love Jesus Christ has for us.  May we fasten this seal of fiery love over hearts.  Let’s celebrate this most wonderful love.

“Who is this one?

She arises out of her desert, clinging to her beloved.

When I awakened you under the apple tree,

as you were feasting upon me,

I awakened your innermost being with the travail of birth

as you longed for more of me.

Fasten me upon your heart as a seal of fire forevermore.

    This living, consuming flame

will seal you as my prisoner of love.

    My passion is stronger

than the chains of death and the grave,

all consuming as the very flashes of fire

from the burning heart of God.

Place this fierce, unrelenting fire over your entire being.

Rivers of pain and persecution

    will never extinguish this flame.

    Endless floods will be unable

to quench this raging fire that burns within you.

    Everything will be consumed.

    It will stop at nothing

as you yield everything to this furious fire

until it won’t even seem to you like a sacrifice anymore.”  Song of Songs 8:5-7 TPT

New Beginnings and Fresh Starts

“This is all about new beginnings and fresh starts,” my friend on the other end of the phone line said this morning. I nodded my head as I confirmed that back to her. Spring always has the feel of that to me, but even more this year.

Many times when prophetic words come my way, I get excited about the fulfillment. Yet, a heart deferred makes the heart sick, right? Many times it seems to take forever God to fulfill those words or maybe we have lost hope of things ever changing.

Over the years, I’ve learned that even when words may feel imminent, they have a process. Much of that process is happening in me to get me ready for the fulfillment of it. Without the process, I would not be mature enough, strong enough to handle the fulfillment.

Kind of like the butterfly in a cocoon. When the caterpillar forms that cocoon, there is hope on the other side, the promise to be fulfilled. While encapsulated inside that dark, cramped space there is a lot going on. The caterpillar’s body basically goes into mush, is taken apart and reformed (rebirth, if you will) into a completely different creature altogether.

I have been in those seasons of cocoons before. In fact, recently the Lord asked me to go into another season of digging deep with Him into some very painful places, of choosing to love even when it is extremely vulnerable and hard. It has felt dark again, pulled apart again. Yet I know from experience now that there is something beautiful awaiting me on the other side of it, when I burst forth anew.

When we receive our rebirth through Christ at the cross, we begin this process of renewing. We are in fact reborn, but then we enter into the process of renewing our mind, our will, our emotions to His purposes and will.

Then comes the day of the butterfly emerging, of the promises fulfilled. If someone cuts open the cocoon in order to help the butterfly break out, denying the creature it’s nature process of the push, the butterfly will not be strong enough to fly, and thus dies.

We don’t always understand prophecies or promises, but even more than that for me the timing of the fulfillment of them. Believing and trusting God for the fulfillment of His word is our work in the pushing. We can’t help God bring it to pass any other way.

It is time! The season for promises fulfilled is here.

In honor of this, our painting class this month is about new beginnings.

Please go to the online class part of our website to order.

Can’t wait to hear how God gives you new beginnings and fresh starts in Him!

Happy 2nd Birthday to Us

We are celebrating with some exciting changes for you!
We took the month of January off to recalibrate and seek the Lord for vision over this business and ministry.  He did not disappoint.

We felt a strong reemphasis on why my husband and I were brought together in the first place, and a reminder of my birthright.  The following is what you will now find on our home page on our website, which explains our why and how.  (The website has now been revamped and ready.)

We really appreciate your prayers as we step out into new areas.  Hope you will take time to check out all the new changes.  We’d love to hear from you.

Much Love,
Paul and Carolyn Weaver

Our mandate is to allow the Lord to heal the broken hearted, to rebuild the devastation of many generations, and to turns the hearts of the father to the children and the hearts of children to the fathers through us. Is. 61, Mal. 4:6

Happy New Year!

What I love about this picture is that everyone is so uniquely different, yet together they made one big, happy family.  Each member of the family has a God-given design, and when in a healthy family environment, we can thrive, growing up into all God has called us to be and do.

That’s what Blossoming Hearts is all about, creating and providing environments and tools to help the individuals in the family to thrive, to blossom.
Bill Johnson recently said, “Healthy families equal healthy cities.”  If you want to change a community, it begins with the individuals in family units being healthy, which results in thriving families.

We want to fulfill our part in that well, starting with our own home, and then moving out from there.

For the month of January we will be taking time off from the normal classes to seek the Lord on how to best do just that.

A friend recently said that God has given us bags full of gifts, and it was time to begin unpacking those bags.  So, we’d appreciate your prayers as we seek guidance on how to best follow the Lord in this.

In the meantime, I am actively uploading art classes to our YouTube channel, Blossoming Hearts.  You are welcome to check out classes there and subscribe for new ones, or as always check out on our facebook page.

Many blessings on a prosperous and blessed New Year!
Love,

Carolyn
