Just Be Bread

I threw my hands up in despair, “You are asking too much of me Lord!”

Continuing my rant, I quickly got a shower, threw on my stretchy pants and t-shirt, and tucked the soft blanket up around my neck, attempting to go sleep or at least look like I was before my roommates jolted my solace as they returned from the late session.

I had come to the “Retreat” weekend immediately following some extremely, intense counseling that had exhausted me. I had thought that I may have a few moments of actually “retreating”, but instead, from the moment I had arrived the day before, I felt the expectation to be “on”.

You know what I mean by “on”. Like when you’re a mom, you’re “on” 24/7. Even as my kids have gotten older, they “need“ you in different, sometime even more emotionally demanding ways.

Like when your parents are elderly, and you don the mask, which makes you feel like you can’t breath, to visit the mom with dementia several times a week, or you are driving the other for a cancer treatment.

Like when your kids are graduating, and you want to hold on for dear life, but know you can’t.

Like when you have a business, even when just starting out, and there are things to plan, endless to do lists, demands put on you or at least put on you by yourself.

Or like when you are in a leadership position, and you feel people expect something from you. “What’s God saying to you about…?”

This weekend, it was more “on”, because I was asked to pray for others A LOT, when all I had come for was some planning and a “retreat”, which I needed desperately after the spiritual heart surgery the Lord had just done. Under more normal conditions, I would have felt an honor to pray, but all of it felt like overwhelm.

Like someone had suddenly hit the “overwhelm” button that slammed shut a door, trapping me with no way out.

Like I was drowning in the ocean and no one could hear my muffled voice as I slipped under the crashing wave.

So, what did the brave warrior do… I ran. I escaped to my room, threw those hands up, yelled, “Too much, Lord!” “I don’t have the capacity to do this,” and hid under the covers.

Even at this moment of writing this, a text message just dinged on my phone, “Can I call you?” LOL!

And yes, my roommates did come in to find me curled in a ball sobbing, heaving sobbing, uncontrollably with a blanket pulled over my head.

They did what good friends do, the kind of friends you really want in these moments. They gathered around me, rubbed my arm and my leg comfortingly, and prayed over me tenderly, assuring me that the expectations I had put on myself, well, were more from me. That they were ok with my messiness. That it was ok to feel weak, depleted.

In the morning, a little embarrassed of my puffy eyes, I sauntered into the dining area to sit down to a breakfast feast. As my fingers reached for the delectable cranberry muffin, an image appeared in my mind’s eye of a loaf of bread. “That’s odd,” I thought to myself as I stuffed the muffin in my mouth.

Yet, the image didn’t go away. “Just be bread,” I heard in my heart.

I began to see me as the bread, and pieces being pulled off of it and shared with others. Tears pooled in my eyes.

“I provide the bread,” I tried to focus back on the half eaten muffin, quickly swiping the tears away. “You don’t even have to provide the bread.” I shifted my weight in my chair, and glanced around the table to notice others were in friendly conversation, oblivious to me. The image continued. “Just be bread.”

Again the courageous warrior “retreated” to my room to process what I was seeing, hearing. After the emotional tidal wave subsided again, I reentered the group. A morning worship time had begun.

Quietly, I snuggled in on the sofa between two friends, pulling my ball cap down to hide my red eyes.

After a bit of singing, the leader grabbed my hands and pulled me into the center of the room, to pray over me. She had not been told what had happened the night before. Yet, within a few minutes, I was laying on the ground soaking in the Lord’s sweet presence.

As I lay there, images of a little boy approaching Jesus with loaves of bread and fishes hanging out of a small basket flashed on the screen of my mind. The sweet voice of my Lord gently spoke, “All I’m asking you to do it give me the little you have, and I will multiply it to feed many.”

His eyes pierced mine with His compassion for me. “I know you feel you have little to give,” He continued. “But even the little you have is given to you by me. Trust me with it. And watch what I can do with it.” He smiled. “The pressure is not on you to perform, little one. Just be bread. And let me take it, and feed many with it.”

Daily, I’m holding onto this lesson tightly, as He leads me into places that look way to big for me to traverse, to situations I feel too weak to handle, when the “overwhelm” begins to rise again around me/ in me.

Timely, a friend sent me a talk this week, and of course, part of it was on the story of the little boy with the bread and fishes. In general, the speaker said to take the little we have and give it to Jesus, and in His hands it will multiply, but he also added that we want our rewards to be like vacations, retirement, money, but that God rewards us with more responsibility to help more people. He was referring to the story of the talents. Those who used their talents wisely, were given more authority or responsibility. Not a vacation. In short, the bread is not just for us to be satisfied, but for Him to use as He wills to feed many, which is where the increase of responsibility comes in.

As I ponder about that, it continues to sink in that it’s not my job to cause the multiplication to happen. I’m just a loaf of bread, which is supplied by the Lord. As I give the little I have to Jesus, I trust Him to take it, bless it, break it, and multiply it to more than enough for whatever the need is. He in turn fills the baskets with it.

Love Bootcamp

This post gently touches on themes of abuse. Take your time, and be kind to yourself as you read.

Have you ever felt like you’ve been in a holy kind of boot camp, where the Holy Spirt is trying to train you in something, teaching you a very important life lesson, (actually the most important) and you keep losing your grip on the next level of the climbing wall and slipping back down?

Well, honestly, I’ve never even attempted to climb a wall.  They’ve always looked insurmountable to me.  With this wall though, the Lord has been so gentle with teaching and training me.  He certainly has not been a drill sergeant with me, but more like a caring, encouraging coach.

Yet, sometimes when His words hit your heart, you are like “Ugh.  Lord, I’m still missing the mark?”  Please, don’t hear me saying anything about performance based love here.

The wall for me, the lesson the Lord has so gently, but relentlessly trying to teach me, has been understanding what real love looks like.

Even a little has been difficult for me to understand, partly because I didn’t have much examples of love growing up.  At best, it was mostly a twisted, selfish, human love I knew.  Also, God’s love is simply so incredibly different than what most of us experience in life in general.

I’ve had several, difficult life situations I’m attempting to walk out right now.  Repeatedly, when I’ve asked the why questions, like “Why can’t this end now, Lord?”,  “Or why am I still being treated this way, Lord?” or “Why is this happening all at the same time, Lord?” (You know, the questions you aren’t supposed to ask God, almighty.), I’ve gotten the same consistent answer.

“I’m teaching you how to love with My love.”  Sometimes, that has been a daily reply.  Yet, I struggle and fight it, so many times, instead of just leaning back into it.

It’s hard to love people who don’t like you, especially “Christians” who you were once close to.  It’s hard to love family members when they are difficult to deal with, maybe facing mental or health issues that require you to put your needs aside.  It’s hard to love teens that just want you to leave them alone (at least, they say they do).  It’s hard to love people who you feel consistently reject you, and yet God says “Reach out again.  Keep loving.  Don’t give up.”  It’s hard to love people who come to you broken, hurting, when you still feel the same way a lot of the time. It’s hard to love the prodigal.

It’s really hard to love the one who abused you or even harder who abused someone love, like a child.   It’s hard to love the way God does.

Heidi Baker recently relayed a story about how God challenged her on love.  She had just experienced the murder of many of their pastors in Africa where she is a missionary.  She struggled with her emotions over the horrible losses of those she loved.  She questioned.  She grieved.

Finally, the Lord spoke to her heart. “You have authority over those you love.”  She knew what He meant.  “Do you really love your enemies?  Those who just murdered those you care most for?  Do you true love them?” It was then, she knew what she had to do. Put action to her words of love. That’s His kind of love.

Prophet Bob Jones once said after he had a heavenly visitation that the only question he was asked was by God was “Did you learn to love?”

Do you get that?  That’s our one and only pursuit on this big ball of dirt, to learn to love like God does.  As Paul said, “To know how wide, deep, long, high is the love of God.”  That’s it.  Our one calling.  Our one goal in this life.

Jesus said it this way when asked what was the greatest commandment.  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.”

We have put a way longer list of expectations on ourselves through religion and culture haven’t we?  Yet, the one lesson to learn is not exactly easy.

I was spending time with the Lord a few days ago, and He zinged my heart with these words.

“Daughter, the love you have had still has selfish aspects to it.  I’m teaching you what pure love really is, without the dross.  I’m using this time to perfect that in you.  I love your honesty.  I love your willingness to love, to give even when it hurts.  Love is not afraid of being hurt.  Love is not afraid of suffering.  Love is not afraid of rejection.  Love freely gives with no expectation of anything in return.  Your love has needed a return. (Ouch.)  Mine doesn’t.  My love is not needy.  It always gives.  It always believes the best.  It never gives up…  True love is not afraid of anything.  Just keep loving.  Keep your heart open to my love.  Love never fails.”

One of my favorite and least favorite things about 1 Cor. 13, the love chapter, is that it begins with “Love is patient.”  I’m so grateful for it when receiving it, but oh, it can be so hard to walk out.  Love is patient.  It’s patient with me, and all my mess ups, brokenness, and heartache.  But it also asks me to be love others patiently.

The one thing that will never fail is LOVE.  The one thing that will always win is LOVE – God’s kind of lay down my life for another, suffering, beautiful love.  The kind of love that hung on a cross for me.

I’ve only begun to taste it, to experience dribbles of it, but it is the most wonderful, amazing, and terrifying (In the sense of when I experience it, I am completely undone.) thing I’ve ever known – the true love of God.

If you want to know what God is made of, He says in 1 John 4 that He is LOVE.

I’ll leave you with this, because I feel it is such a beautiful picture of the love Jesus Christ has for us.  May we fasten this seal of fiery love over hearts.  Let’s celebrate this most wonderful love.

“Who is this one?

She arises out of her desert, clinging to her beloved.

When I awakened you under the apple tree,

as you were feasting upon me,

I awakened your innermost being with the travail of birth

as you longed for more of me.

Fasten me upon your heart as a seal of fire forevermore.

    This living, consuming flame

will seal you as my prisoner of love.

    My passion is stronger

than the chains of death and the grave,

all consuming as the very flashes of fire

from the burning heart of God.

Place this fierce, unrelenting fire over your entire being.

Rivers of pain and persecution

    will never extinguish this flame.

    Endless floods will be unable

to quench this raging fire that burns within you.

    Everything will be consumed.

    It will stop at nothing

as you yield everything to this furious fire

until it won’t even seem to you like a sacrifice anymore.”  Song of Songs 8:5-7 TPT

New Beginnings and Fresh Starts

“This is all about new beginnings and fresh starts,” my friend on the other end of the phone line said this morning. I nodded my head as I confirmed that back to her. Spring always has the feel of that to me, but even more this year.

Many times when prophetic words come my way, I get excited about the fulfillment. Yet, a heart deferred makes the heart sick, right? Many times it seems to take forever God to fulfill those words or maybe we have lost hope of things ever changing.

Over the years, I’ve learned that even when words may feel imminent, they have a process. Much of that process is happening in me to get me ready for the fulfillment of it. Without the process, I would not be mature enough, strong enough to handle the fulfillment.

Kind of like the butterfly in a cocoon. When the caterpillar forms that cocoon, there is hope on the other side, the promise to be fulfilled. While encapsulated inside that dark, cramped space there is a lot going on. The caterpillar’s body basically goes into mush, is taken apart and reformed (rebirth, if you will) into a completely different creature altogether.

I have been in those seasons of cocoons before. In fact, recently the Lord asked me to go into another season of digging deep with Him into some very painful places, of choosing to love even when it is extremely vulnerable and hard. It has felt dark again, pulled apart again. Yet I know from experience now that there is something beautiful awaiting me on the other side of it, when I burst forth anew.

When we receive our rebirth through Christ at the cross, we begin this process of renewing. We are in fact reborn, but then we enter into the process of renewing our mind, our will, our emotions to His purposes and will.

Then comes the day of the butterfly emerging, of the promises fulfilled. If someone cuts open the cocoon in order to help the butterfly break out, denying the creature it’s nature process of the push, the butterfly will not be strong enough to fly, and thus dies.

We don’t always understand prophecies or promises, but even more than that for me the timing of the fulfillment of them. Believing and trusting God for the fulfillment of His word is our work in the pushing. We can’t help God bring it to pass any other way.

It is time! The season for promises fulfilled is here.

In honor of this, our painting class this month is about new beginnings.

Come and Drink

I did a thing today.  A thing I’ve not done in a while.  Shocker alert: I picked up my Bible.  You know, the one that’s leather-bound, that spends way more time on my shelf next to my bed collecting dust now than in my lap.

Yes, I’ve fallen into the routine as so many others in our digital world.  Grab the phone or iPad and scroll to my favorite Bible app.

Yet, there was something very satisfying as I held the Book in my hands flipping through the tender pages.  As I contemplated what to read, the prompt came to just let the pages fall open as I had done so many times in my earlier years with the Lord.

My eyes landed on one of my most loved passages.  “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”  John 4:10

Immediately, it was as if the sweet presence of Jesus filled my room, and He was standing in front of me.

“Carolyn, what are you going to drink from today?” He paused.  I almost could see His eyes piercing my heart.  “Will you drink of Me?”

My head tilted down again as my eyes scanned the familiar story for the next words.  “Are you greater than our father, Jacob…?” the woman counter.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again…”

My attention was drawn back into the Lord’s presence.  “Carolyn, anything or anyone else you choose to focus on today, that you choose to drink from today, won’t satisfy you daughter.  They will only leave you thirsty again.”

Deeper, clearer I could see His eyes.  I wanted to swim in them.  Pure, holy, liquid love.

My mind rambled to the all the media reports to all the political theories to my children’s needs to my husband to my business demands to social media to a broken friendship to my elderly parents I’m caring for.  On and on, all the people, all the opinions, all the distractions of life rumbled through my mind like a freight train.

The words on the paper page came into focus again.  “but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.  Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

It was as if Jesus whispered in my ear, “Child, the only water that will satisfy you is Me.  And if you choose to drink of Me, to drink deeply of Me, it will well up again and again, bubbling over in You for eternity.”

I thought of this woman who was so broken and outcast that the only time of day she would venture out to get water was in the heat of the day to avoid the ridicule of the villagers.  I get her.  I’ve been rejected and ridiculed.  I’ve been shattered and outcast.

“Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty again and have to keep coming here to draw water.”  Can you hear the desperation in her voice?

Then Jesus told her, “Go, call for your husband and come back.”  I used to this was so unkind, like He completely just exposed her to the world.  Yet, He already knew her brokenness when He said this.  He knew she had been married five times, and the man she was with she wasn’t married to.  He wasn’t condemning her.  He was saying, “Daughter, I see how you have been rejected by men, but I’m not rejecting you.  I see how you have been abused.  I see you.  I know you.  Don’t let your past stop you.  Come and drink.”

What I love about this woman is she was looking and longing for Messiah.  Jesus comes to those who truly seek Him.  “Seek and you will find.”  She was honest about her past, and she allowed Jesus into her pain.   She chose to take a long, thirst-quenching drink.

According to church history, “the woman at the well” became a leader in the early church, not only leading her entire village to the Lord, but later boldly presenting the good news to Nero, the cruel Roman Dictator and winning his daughter to Christ.  Truly, she drank deeply of Jesus and her life was a testimony of His love bubbling over and over in her to eternal life.

Here’s the reality about me though.  I really needed a drink this morning, a good long refreshing drink of Yeshua (Jesus).  Most of the time, because of real needs in my present life, I’ve felt stretched like a rubber band here and there and everywhere.

More often than I’d like to admit, I get caught up in the “cares of this world”.  I look to people to fill me, to social media to get my hit for the day; to my friends, family, or business to make me feel happy or fulfilled.   These aren’t necessarily bad things, but they can’t fill my heart.  They can’t quench  my thirst.  Many times when I find myself “running after things”, it’s because I really am thirsty.

The truth is there only one “person” (The Great Three in One Person) who can satisfy my thirst.  Will I stop long enough to take a deep, filling drink of Him?  Will You?

The world will keep right on spinning, people will keep right on sharing their opinions/views, demands will still be thrown at me continually.  If I am not drinking from the right source, I will shortly become bone dry and have nothing left but dust.  Or I can be still and “know” my Lord, Jesus.  I can and will answer His call to

“Come and drink.”

An Encounter with an Angel called “Dictator”

The following is an account of an encounter with an angel that happened on Jan. 25, 2021. The reason I am putting it out publicly is because I believe it is a word for the body of Christ at large. This is completely out of my comfort zone, but I hope it will help someone, give someone hope and courage.

I was in my kitchen making dinner. I had been struggling with a hard day. All of a sudden I felt an angel enter and stand across the kitchen from me. I just felt it really strongly and know where it is. The presence kept increasing and I began hearing loudly in my ear, “Don’t be afraid. Take courage. Don’t be afraid.” I honestly felt like hitting the floor several times and struggled to stay on my feet .

I finally turned to him and said, “ Whatever you came to do or give me, I receive it.”. As soon as the words were out of my mouth, I got hit in my stomach and doubled over laughing for about thirty mins..  I managed a text message to my family to tell them to come, but I guess they didn’t really believe me, until my youngest daughter came into eat dinner. She made it to the threshold and I heard “Mom, you were right. There is an angel,” and she starts cracking up laughing.

Laughter is a form of warfare, and often it is the way my spirit response to the strong presence of the Lord. I calmed down, and it lifted a little, but I can still feel it.

I ate dinner and then returned to the kitchen. The angel was still there and I started laughing all over again. My eldest daughter comes in and says, “ Oh there is the angel. He’s not very big, but he’s very powerful.” She begins describing him to me and tells me that he’s carrying an ancient looking book. She feels like it has to do with history.

I had asked the angel what his name is, and I had immediately heard Dictator. I thought like ruler, but as my daughter said he held an ancient book, I knew he was there to dictate part of the book to me.

Anyway, I had a prayer call I was supposed to be on, but I didn’t think I could. But I heard the Lord say to get on the call, so the angel followed me upstairs and now he’s in the bedroom with me. As I got on the call, I heard “Yield to the spirit of prophecy.”.

I’ve never experienced anything like this so I just said yes, I don’t know how, but Holy Spirit help me to you hear this right and to say this right. I began to hear a sentence at a time and just repeat out out loud what I heard. This is exactly word for word what I heard.

I am the great I am. I am the great I am. I am the ancient of days. I am the ancient of days.
There is none besides me. There is none greater than me. There is none greater than me.

Put down your idols. Put down the things that you’ve held onto. Look to the Ancient of days for your help. Look to the Ancient of the days for your help for I am coming to help.

I will not, I will not turn my back on my people, because my people have cried for help. Those who have been innocent though the enemy has put his foot on the neck, I will crush the enemy’s foot. I will release the prisoner. I have seen the oppression of my people. I have seen the oppression of my people.

I say the oppression will end. It will not continue. I have seen the oppression in this country. People call for judgement. Judgement will come, but it will not come on the innocent.

My justice will come, but it will not come against my kids, my children.

I will throw back. I will throw back the covers that have covered sin in this country. I will throw back all the way the covers that have covered the sins of this country. It will be exposed, but it will not happen the way that most people think.

I am sending my fire. I am sending a winnowing fork. It will thresh out the wheat from the tares.

Much of what’s grown in my churches looks like wheat and it is tares. It is tares. It is not mine. I will winnow out the wheat from the tares.

I will purify my Bride. She will shake herself from her slumber. She will shake herself from her slumber. She will rise. She will become who she was created to be.

I am not done. I am not done with this country. I am not done with this country. This country is meant to be a beacon, a light to the world.

The enemy has come to snuff that light out.
I will not allow that light to be stuffed out.

I have made the state of South Carolina into a safe state, into a place of refuge. I will pour out my Spirit here. I will pour out my spirit in the United States. I am not done.

They have jeered. They have jeered at me, but I laugh at their jeers. I laugh at their jeers. They are nothing to me. They are here today, and they are gone tomorrow. They are blown away like chaff, like the chaff from the wheat they will be blown away.

Release my love. I release my love. I release the fire of my love. I release the fire of my love. It’s on all my children.

Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid of suffering. Don’t be afraid of losing your life. Don’t be afraid of giving up things. For my reward is far greater anything you would ever give up for me. My presence is far greater than anything you would ever give up for me.

Repent my bride. Repent my bride. Turn away from your wickedness. Turn away from your lovers. I must become your first love again. I must become your first love again. There cannot be any other lovers anymore.

I’ve called you out of the desert like Hosea called Gomer out of the desert, and she was restored. She bore the name of prostitute no more, and she became loved by the prophet.

I love you my bride. I love you, my bride. Everything written about this country will come to pass. Everything written about this country will come to pass. The destiny of this country will not be cut short. It will not be cut short.

Walk in unity. Walk in unity. Love creates unity. Lay down your lives for each other. Lay down your lives for each other as I have laid down my life for you. Wash each others feet as I have washed your feet.

Play time is over. It’s time to get down to business. My business will be done. My justice will come.

Out of the mouth of Joe Biden, sorrow may last for a night, but my joy comes in the morning. If I can use a donkey to speak for me, I can use Joe Biden. I will make the laughing stock of my enemies. They will not be able to stand before me.

Peace. Shalom. Peace. Shalom. Everything is going to be ok. Don’t be afraid. Everything will be ok.

(The comment regarding Joe Biden is not meant to be a disrespectful comment, but simply what I heard. The Lord has referred to me as Balaam’s donkey before too. The point is He can use anyone.)

A Crisis of Goodness

Troubling.  Confusing.  Disappointing.  Grieving.  Overwhelming.

It has felt at times like a rollercoaster of emotions in these past few weeks.

In this past month, we’ve basically witnessed the powers that be shut down freedom of speech and the due process of a fair and just election.  I don’t care which side that would have happened to.  That highly disturbs me.

We have also seen a deluge of disinformation fill our news networks, social media, text messages, etc., to the point it’s hard to know what to believe.  For many, disillusion has set in, people question everything, and distrust and fear prevail.

A close friend, who is an African American woman with some differing views, shared with me that she and her friends had been getting messages about KKK groups that were said to going to attack, while I’ve gotten my phone filled with messages about the overthrow of government.  My dear friends, we have been played.

The enemy of our souls plays on our fears, insecurities, unbelief causing us to react.  There are real, demonic forces that seek to tear us apart, to tear our nation apart.

A nation divided against itself will fall.

I also seen supposed believers eat other like bread, as the prophet Isaiah put it.  People have jeered at prophetic voices, which touted Trump would remain in office. It has felt like brothers and sisters have been quick to cry “crucify”, instead of being willing to act in sacrificial love welcoming the nail like Jesus did.

This ought not be and grieves the heart of God.  In fact, in I John 4 it says that we don’t even know God, if we don’t love our brother.  Why would the world have an desire to have what we have?  Please don’t hear condemnation in my voice.  It’s grief.

In some situations correction is needed, especially where prophetic voices have no accountability, and seemingly have been more into the tickling of ears, like the prophet for hire types.

Yet, many, many true and tried prophetic voices have seen so many visions and had so many dreams that seemingly were wrong.  What do we do with that?  Did we all just hear what we wanted to hear, see what we wanted to see?  Possibly.

Any person who sees or hears only sees in part and hears in part.  To me, it’s always like a giant puzzle that God pieces together through His kids.  From that stand point, it is truly a beautiful woven together gift that comes from the body.

Yet it disturbs me when we as a culture look only to prophetic voices to hear from the Lord.  This is not to say we shouldn’t value prophets or the gift of prophecy.  We should, but Jesus is the head of His body, and He wants to speak to all of us.

Many times while serving in prophetic culture, people would just walk up to me expecting me to have a word for them.  This is dangerous for many reasons.  It puts the person being asked under a lot of pressure to please man.  It also always felt like it was like putting God as a genie in a bottle, which I can tell you, He highly detests.

God has said many times this past year that He is exposing corruption.  I believe it has only begun, but our focus must remain on God and His truth as revealed in the Bible.  I also believe God is uncovering corruption in His Bride foremost.   There are some deep seated heart issues that must be dealt in His bride, no matter who is in office.

Did God allow Biden to become President?  For whatever reason, Yes.  I don’t know how long that is for, but for the moment he is our inaugurated President.  Does God love and care about Biden, Harris, and even Pelosi?  Yes.

Do I understand how it all fits together in God’s plan for our nation? Not really.

Am I giving up on our country, throwing my hands up that all is lost?  Absolutely not!  God is not done with our country.  He is not even done with Trump.

Because of the vision I had that was made so public, I’ve had many ask me did God tell me Trump would re-elected.  My answer was and is no.

He did not tell me one way or the other, but chose to be quiet on the matter with me.

I honestly try not to ask those type of questions to the Lord, because I don’t want to be guilty of treating Him like a fortune teller.  I have done that before and repented, so I really try not to go to that place with Him, because I usually hear wrong anyway.

Sometimes my humanity gets in the way and I interpret things wrongly, which has been a painful learning experience for me and others.  Think Joseph and his dreams.  There are times I hear what I want to hear.  I need tons of grace and discernment.  More often than not, my timing is completely off.  Think Abraham here.

If Yahweh so chooses to tell me something regarding future events, that is up to Him, and He does share things with me from time to time.  When I sense it is from Him, I weigh it against His Word, and I submit it to others I trust who have good fruit in their lives.

When it truly is a word from Him, I can promise you it will come to pass, because He is faithful and true, and never lies, though almost always it looks way different than I thought it.   Yet if I look back at a word from Him, I then can see in hindsight what He meant or how it played out.

I simply am not God, nor should I try to be.  He is fully able to fulfill His words.  My job is just to say yes to what He says.

If I try to make that word come to pass though, I’ve just stepped into manipulation and control, which according to my Bible is witchcraft.

So, I don’t know what will happen or how it will happen.  I do know He is not concerned about evil men no matter what side they are on, and I’m pretty sure there are some on both.  They and their schemes are no more than dust to Him, and at the appointed time, He will blow them away.

I do know we are to be patient, kind, not boastful, not envious, not proud, not rude, not self seeking, not easily angered.  We should keep no record of offensives done to us.  We should delight in truth.  We should uphold justice, never rejoicing in evil.  We should always protect, trust, and hope.  This is the way of love.

I do know we should continue to pray for all those in leadership and trust God to continue to expose evil and corruption, bringing to justice those who have committed it.

Our hope and trust is in God, who is good, who is love, whose throne is built on justice and righteousness.  He is not done with us or our country.  He is in control and on the throne.  He is roaring over our land.  I choose to stand with Him.

I think it’s time to lift Jesus high and to truly follow in His steps.  When we do that, we can’t go wrong or be misled.

My dear friend, let’s lay down our right to be right.  Let’s look into the eyes of those on the other side, who are different than us, believe different than us, and let’s see their pain.  Let’s look at them as humans, creatures made in the image of God, who need the love of our Lord Jesus.  Let’s be the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus to them.

Let us stand up to corruption and evil in all of its forms.

The problem in our country is not our government or abortion or the media, etc…  We have a heart problem.  Evil is prevailing in our nation, because our hearts have become corrupt.  In the past, the church seemingly has ignored the evil or not been willing to deal with it, because it hasn’t hurt enough.  Maybe we have finally begun to wake up.

As Graham Cooke says that we don’t have an evil problem.  We have a goodness problem.

Do not be overcome by evil, overcome evil with good.  Romans 12:21.

A President nor governmental system can’t change a heart.  But God’s love can. Let’s be apart of that solution.

The Flood

Has anyone felt overwhelmed in the last few weeks? I have.

Three years or so ago, myself and several others continually got visions and words of this coming flood, like a tsunami type of flood.

The connotation was that it would feel overwhelming, but God would be in it. And the results would be good.

I remember seeing in a vision people thrashing in the water, fighting it, thereby nearly drowning.

Others tried swimming upstream, wearing themselves out in the rising torrent.

Some refused to step into the water, trying to ignore it altogether, but as it continued to rise, they were swept downstream.

Still others just leaned back into the flood waters, floated, and laughed playing in the waves, trusting that they were held by the Lord.

A friend reminded me of this vision before Christmas. She said she has held onto it so many times, leaning back into the arms of the Lord and trusting that He’s got this.

As things in our world seem more and more like rising, torrential waters, like the days of Noah, I have a choice to make.

If I fight what Yahweh is doing, I will feel like I’m drowning. If I try to go against it, swimming against the stream, I may find myself exhausted. If I ignore the water altogether pretending it’s not there, it will come all the same. I may thereby endanger myself into being swept away in doubt, fear, and disbelief.

The best choice is leaning back into the waters entrusting my life and those I love into the hands of God, who loves me, and will work everything out for my good.

In this place of surrender, I can relax even in a tsunami that feels completely over my head. I can’t drown in the love of God. In His arms, I am safe.

I actually can come to the place of playing and laughing in the rising waters, knowing He has this crazy world in His hands. He is on the move, and His glory will fill the earth.

Keep your eyes on the true Lord Jesus. Let Him hold you in the middle of the flood.

Happy New Year!

What I love about this picture is that everyone is so uniquely different, yet together they made one big, happy family.  Each member of the family has a God-given design, and when in a healthy family environment, we can thrive, growing up into all God has called us to be and do.

That’s what Blossoming Hearts is all about, creating and providing environments and tools to help the individuals in the family to thrive, to blossom.
Bill Johnson recently said, “Healthy families equal healthy cities.”  If you want to change a community, it begins with the individuals in family units being healthy, which results in thriving families.

We want to fulfill our part in that well, starting with our own home, and then moving out from there.

For the month of January we will be taking time off from the normal classes to seek the Lord on how to best do just that.

A friend recently said that God has given us bags full of gifts, and it was time to begin unpacking those bags.  So, we’d appreciate your prayers as we seek guidance on how to best follow the Lord in this.

In the meantime, I am actively uploading art classes to our YouTube channel, Blossoming Hearts.  You are welcome to check out classes there and subscribe for new ones, or as always check out on our facebook page.

Many blessings on a prosperous and blessed New Year!
Love,

Carolyn
